A shared vision for the future.
The Dance Centre in Llandrindod Wells is entering an exciting new phase as Impelo and Mid & North Powys Mind join forces to create a shared space that will benefit both organisations and the local community. Thanks to funding from Powys County Council, the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns programme, and the Arts Council of Wales, essential renovations will breathe new life into this building, making it a hub for creativity, wellbeing, and collaboration.
This partnership provides a unique opportunity for two like-minded organisations to thrive under one roof. While the Dance Centre’s large studio remains at the heart of Impelo’s operations, the building will also become the new home for Mid & North Powys Mind, offering a purpose-built space to deliver their vital mental health services.
The building itself has untapped potential. By joining forces, Impelo and Mid & North Powys Mind will:
Rejuvenate the building, ensuring it’s fit for purpose and cost-efficient.
Create a shared space, with separate entrances and distinct operations, but a unified ethos of wellbeing and creativity.
Secure the future of both organisations, allowing them to thrive and expand their services.
A foundation for both organisations to grow, collaborate, and contribute to the cultural and mental health landscape of Powys.
What’s Happening Now?
Renovations for the Dance Centre began in October 2024 and are being carried out in carefully planned stages. Mid and North Powys Mind are already operating from the front of the building, while Impelo’s area is due to be completed by Autumn 2025. This will pave the way for the Centre to be fully open and thriving by early 2026.
The Dance Centre studio as occupied by Impelo is currently closed.
What’s Next?
With over 300 people taking part in our community consultation, the feedback has been invaluable in shaping the plans for this space. We have a hires and community manager in place to promote the dance centre to groups and organisations who may want to hire the space.
We want to thank everyone who shared their ideas and support, it’s because of your input that we are able to move forward with such excitement and confidence, and Impelo would love you to stay involved as the work progresses.
How You Can Get Involved
As the building takes shape, we’ll be taking the community along with us. There will be many opportunities to get involved, from sharing your feedback to participating in upcoming events and initiatives once the building is ready.
Impelo and Mid & North Powys Mind would like to thank Powys County Council, the Welsh Government, and the Arts Council of Wales for their invaluable support in making this project possible.
